Idil Ergün, was born and raised in the Arabian desert where she lived for 10 years. In between, she stayed in Texas for a year. Later on she moved to her motherland Turkey just a couple of days before the Gulf War broke out. She graduated from the Archaeology and Art History Department at Bilkent University, Ankara. After eight years of working in various art institutions, museums and galleries in Istanbul, feeling brave one day, she quit her job and applied to the London Film School where she attended the Directing Course in 2013. Since then she has been involved in directing and editing videos for a variety of brands, as well as, music videos and short films. Her clients include musicians, designers, artists, clothing brands, restaurants, design stores, art galleries, universities and hotels. Her work has been selected for festivals such as Berlin Music Video Awards (2017), Nick Knight’s SHOWstudio Fashion Film Awards (2016), and Fashion Film Festival Istanbul (2015). In 2016 she prepared a commissioned video art installation for the Vitra Contemporary Architecture Series: Don’t Be Late Home, exhibited at Istanbul Modern.
